murder on the orient express

Director: Kenneth Branagh

This movie as many know is based on the famous Agatha Christie’s novel by the same name which is a about a crime that takes place during a luxurious trip on the Orient Express train in 1935.

Everything in this film seems to be almost perfect, it starts with beautiful scenes from Jerusalem, this takes you to scenes from Turkey where the characters starts to be introduced.

Book Review: And the Mountains Echoed (5/10)

By: Khaled Hosseini

And the mountain echoed

This is the 3rd novel by the best-selling author Khaled Hosseini who writes beautifully about life in Afghanistan. His first two novels (The Kite Runner) and (A thousand Splendid Sun) are brilliant and I really enjoyed reading both.

This novel is similar in pattern to the first two in the sense it also tells the story of Afghanistan starting from the late forties and goes all the way to the present time showing the different stages the country went through while following the lives of the characters.

Film Review: Suburbicon 2017 (6/10)

Suburbicon

Director and Co-writer George Clooney

Starring: Matt Damon , Julian Moor

It only took Matt Damon name on the movie poster for me to decide to book the centime ticket. Not only I enjoy Matt Damon performance and of course his handsome look but I trust his choices on the roles he takes and the movies he decides to appear in.

This time round I didn’t know he is co-starting with the beautiful Julian Moor or the movie is written and directed by George Clooney …..both are also my favorites … I just saw his name and I decided this will be a film worth watching …. and so it was.

Film Review: American Made 2017 (7/10)

American Made

Director: Doug Liman

Written by‎: ‎Gary Spinelli

Starring: Tom Cruise

When you see Tom Cruise on the movie poster it is like no brainer, of course I am going specially with the lack of any other movie of my liking for the entire summer. Tom Cruise has always been and probably will always be a box office star. You know you will get action, entertainment and your cinema ticket is worth its price tag. But what I didn’t see coming is seeing Tom Cruise in a biographical action drama showing the unsurprising dirty side of the US foreign policy in south America during the eighties. Oh and you will still get the charming entertaining action thriller that you paid for. I must admit it brought joy to me seeing Tom Cruise back to more serious cinema …brought back the days of A few Good Men and Jerry Maguire.

Film Review: Hell, or High Water 2016 (5/10)

HOHW

Staring – Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges
Directed by David Mackenzie

Still trying to catch up on 2016 movies which were nominated for Best Picture award at the Oscars (due to most of them for some reason didn’t make it to the cinema theater in Dubai) and after reading many reviews highly recommending this movie, I thought it is time to watch it.

Film Review: Split 2016 (7/10)

Split

Writer & Director: M. Night Shyamala
Starring: James McAvoy

I certainly have heard of multiple personality disorder, and may have seen some comedy movies showing the humor side of it but to be able to watch someone switching between those personalities in such elegance was truly remarkable. The performance of James McAvoy was brilliant and I can’t picture any other actor doing it. I am puzzled how his role was not nominated for the main film awards such as The Golden Globe and The Oscars.
