Film Review:Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 2017 (8/10)

Jumanji 2

Director: Jake Kasdan

Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Bobby Cannavale

Light, entertaining and funny ….. I was quite surprised to find it a really nice entertaining film with great cast, scenery, lots of fun and well-designed plot…. really highly recommended

Having previously enjoyed the original Jumanji in 1995, I didn’t think the come back will be as good, but the film was made cleverly by changing the board game featured in the original film in to a video game where the kids are transformed in to the game characters. This is probably the first big blockbuster film for the director Jake Kasdan.

All actors did a very nice job in not taking themselves seriously making the jocks work really well. The casting was perfect and each actor/actress was perfectly fitting the character in the film.

You will love it even more if you have some gaming experience as some of the jokes are applicable to such games. The film also gives really nice messages about inner beauty, bravery, courage and caring.

The down side, you would think this film is suitable for children, but you have to be careful. The film has many swearing words, adult type and sexist jokes and some sexual insinuations. I would say it is for 15+ rather than PG-13.

I will take this opportunity to pay tributes to the late Robin Williams who was the lead actor in the original Jumanji movie for his great legacy that he left behind.
